Worship focuses our energies on the Presence of God, as we experience transformational corporate and private worship. The loaf and cup symbolizes the body and blood of Jesus Christ, as revealed through the body and blood of Jesus Christ.
Great Commission is like that of a farmer who scatters the seed of the good news of Jesus Christ in all types of soil, partnering with God to scatter the good news of salvation and discipleship through Jesus Christ.
Spiritual Growth is like fruit that grows on the branches of a vine. We are the branches, individually and collectively. Through spiritual disciplines, we allow God’s Spirit and character to transform and shape our spirit and character. As we abide in Christ, the vine, he abides in us and our lives produce the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Through prayer, study and application of scriptural truths, reflection, commitment and faithful obedience, we allow God’s Spirit and character to transform and shape our spirit and character.
Community of Faith is like individual stalks of grain gathered in harvest. The uniqueness of each stalk is expressed through ministry of one another. Each individual stalk of grain, like each person, is unique. Community of Faith is experienced as unity through diversity. Each individual stalk of grain, like each person, bears fruit in varying degrees. Community of Faith is expressed through congregational care, relationship networks, classes and groups, prayer and practical acts of service to, with on behalf of one another.
"As part of the body of Christ, the mission of Shades Crest Baptist Church is to
experience and share the love and power of the Kingdom of God."
The congregational life and ministry of Shades Crest Baptist Church are expressed through our four core values: Great Commission, Spiritual Growth, Community of Faith and Worship. These four core values are depicted in our logo.
Our core values are centered around the cross, the symbol of God’s love, Christ’s sacrifice and our discipleship nurtured by the Holy Spirit. Through the life of the Church, there are no boundaries or limits to our outward reach in mission, our depth in spiritual formation, or our upward reach in worship. The centrality of our sanctuary’s stained glass windows is also reflected in the logo’s design.
