Connect Group Descriptions

College (Robin & Mary Beth Schultz) room 260

We invite you to join college students in a small group Bible study. Our focus is making disciples. We provide opportunities to serve others and share the Good News of Christ. Whether you are in school locally or out of town most of the time, part-time or full-time, undergraduate or graduate, come do life with us!

Dr. Raymond Thompson  room 246

We are a group of men age mid-60s to mid-70s. We are a loving, yet sometimes crusty group with a diverse range of thoughts and opinions. Our Bible studies are discussion based and focus on a specific book of the Bible, which we follow verse by verse to the book’s conclusion. Please come join us; you will be welcomed.

Luke Thornton  room 103

We are proud to be the oldest men’s class where we take good care of one another. Our group stays connected with each other, whether in the class or homebound. We are lecture–based and use BaptistWay literature to assist us in studying the Bible. You are invited to visit and be a part of this group.

Young Men (Owen Coulson)  room 255

We are a group of young men (ages 30-45) who want to grow in our faith through Bible study and doing life together. If you are new on your faith journey, or you have been following Christ for years, please feel free to join this men’s connect group on Sunday mornings. Our class is discussion based.

Rita Lakeman  room 254

We are a group of women of all ages who join together to study the Bible through topical and practical studies that relate to issues facing women today. Specific studies include popular authors, books of the Bible, and more. The group focuses on mission projects and regular opportunities for fellowship and serving others.

Linda Tucker  room 248

If you enjoy Bible study come join our group of ladies who are from ages 60 to 70 years old (although we welcome any age). Join us if you are interested in a small intimate group who share life together, not only on Sundays, but throughout the week. We do lecture and discussion, with an occasional activity. Come be a part of our group!

Sally Turner & Scott Purkey  room 200

We are a small ladies class in our 60s, who enjoy interaction and discussion based Bible study. We take care of one another and would love for you to join us.

Sally Brinks  room 247

You are welcome to join our large group of women mostly in our late 60s and 70s who join together for Bible study. We are a mission-minded group that is focused on prayer and action.

Joy Sinclair  room 102

We are a large, caring group of senior adult women, ages 70-80+. We enjoy studying the Bible together, using different methods of study. We may do “show and tell” one week, drama the next, keeping it varied. Discussion is encouraged always. When an outside need is presented, the class feels privileged to meet the need. We dine out together several times a year.

LaDonna Gibbs  room 101

Our group loves to study the Word of God together. We are a group of women in our 80’s and 90’s and focus on Bible study and prayer. We invite you to join us as we minister to each other and those around us.

20s-30s (Michael & Lindsey Whisonant) room 242

We are a young, coed adult Connect Group. The majority of us are in our 20s to early 30s (single, engaged and married) mostly without children. Our focus is on Bible study and seeking to build relationships with one another and the Lord, with intentions of reaching out to our community.  We aim to follow Christ and connect with others who are seeking to grow in their walk with the Lord.

Dr. James Strange  room 229

Most of our Connect Group are parents in their 30s and 40s with preschool and elementary aged children, but we invite anyone to join us. We work through books of the New Testament from start to finish, using a mixture of lecture and discussion.

Monte & Janet Erwin, Dr. Clella Lee room 252

We are a multi-generational, coed class. The teaching aim is to explore the lesson in a conversation style by examining the Bible through topical and practical studies that relate to issues facing people today. Our group focuses on our spiritual formation.

Matt Bearden  room 251

We are a new, smaller coed group ranging in age from 40s through 50s. We focus on topical lessons with an emphasis on missional work. Please come and join us as we seek to follow the teaching and examples of Christ.

Todd Rath  room 259

We are a large coed group, ages ranging in our 40s and 50s, who study the Bible using different life applications. We focus on missional living by connecting with different local and worldwide ministries. We invite you to join us.

The class is small, delightful and growing, and the lessons are well prepared.

Dr. Ken Cook & Kay Barnes  room 244

We are a fun coed group, mostly in our 70s and 80s, that enjoy a discussion-based Bible study and doing life together. We are missional in purpose. The lessons are taught by six different teachers on rotating schedule. This is an exciting aspect of the class because we experience the different personalities and teaching styles each week. Discussion is emphasized.
