Part of the Exploring Wild Alabama Trip Series sponsored by Shades Crest Baptist Church
Come walk the trails at the University of West Alabama’s Black Belt Prairie Restoration Area in Livingston. The prairie flowers should be at peak bloom! We will meet in the front parking lot of Shades Crest Baptist at 8 am–near the main road sign–and carpool to the University of West Alabama’s Lake LU trailhead.
After an interpretive walk, participants can escape the heat in a local restaurant. Following lunch, we will have the option of visiting the White Chalk Cliffs of Epes and the antebellum town of Eutaw, where we could possibly tour one of its historic homes. Folks who decide to continue touring after lunch should be headed back to Birmingham by late afternoon. Whole families and individuals are welcome.
