The Ministry Center at Greens Springs is a non-profit ministry reaching out to those in need in Birmingham’s multicultural community, with food and clothing for their bodies and other resources to ease the effects of poverty of mind, body and spirit. The aim is to encourage and help persons attain a better quality of life. Some of the current programs include a food pantry, English as a Second Language(ESL) classes and resources for new ethnic congregations.
Shades Crest cooperates in this ministry through contributions monthly and by contributing food on the first Sunday of each month to replenish the food pantry. We also provide volunteers for the food pantry, English as a Second Language teaching and other activities. Specific needs are announced periodically in the “SPIRE”, so look for your opportunity to serve soon.

Share the Joy with Holiday Meals
Our goal this year is to provide ingredients for a delicious Thanksgiving or Christmas meal for each family that comes to the food pantry during the holiday season. The meal will consist of cornbread stuffing and gravy, fruit salad, green beans, corn, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes with marshmallow topping, and a dessert along with turkey, ham, whole chicken or other choice of meat. Having this family feast will be such a blessing during the holidays.
Your gift of $45 will buy the ingredients needed for holiday meals for 4 families.
You, your family, or Sunday school class can send your money to the Ministry Center by mail or through Shades Crest for this worthy cause. We currently serve 60 families each week at the food pantry, and this number may increase through the holidays. All excess money received will be used by the Ministry Center to purchase food for the food pantry during the next year from Community Food Bank of Central AL or other sources.Back to “Mission Partnerships”
