Dear Church Family:
We invite you to write a summary (approximately 1-2 pages) of your faith journey and submit a copy to the church office by email (cshaffer@shadescrest.org) or hard copy by April 1.
If you need a jumpstart on composing your story, begin by asking these four questions:
1) What do you recall about your decision to be a Christ follower?
2) Who were the primary encouragers who helped shape or influence your faith?
3) How have you grown in your faith since this decision?
4) How are you using your gifts and resources to serve God by serving others?
In addition to submitting your faith story to the church office to be presented to our new pastor, we
also encourage you to consider the following:
• Share your story with your Connect Group.
• Share your story with friends and family (especially children, grandchildren, parents,
grandparents).
• Share your story with a person who is not a Jesus follower or someone who has become
disconnected from their church community. Then ask them for feedback on your story. This
could open the door to deeper conversation about faith.
We will not share your story with anyone other than our new pastor without your permission.
However, we may ask a few who are willing to share their story in The Spire or to share a brief
testimony from their faith journey in an upcoming worship service.
We are grateful for your prayers and your participation in our congregational conversations. Now we
ask that you continue your prayers for our committee and our pastoral candidates as we enter the
“candidate interview phase” of our pastor search.
