The mission of Shades Crest KIDS is to equip children and preteens to know God intimately, love God deeply, and serve God sacrificially. Additionally, we partner with families in the social, relational, and spiritual development of each child.

Shades Crest KIDS is a ministry for children and preteens in 1st – 6th grades.

Worship Services

Children and preteens worship with their families on Sundays—either the modern, Rising service (9:00 a.m.), or the conventional, Majestic service (11:00 a.m.).

As an intergenerational church, we enjoy coming together in worship on Sundays. Sermon Notes for Kids are available at entrances to the worship areas for children to follow along with the sermon. This activity sheet provides children another opportunity to engage in the service. We pray that children leave worship each Sunday with spiritual takeaways, adding another layer in building a child’s spiritual development.

Connect Groups

Connect Groups meet on Sunday mornings from 10:00 – 10:50 a.m. Children and preteens use the Gospel Project curriculum, which consists of Christ-centered, chronological Biblical studies. Having a chronological study plan seamlessly blends the big story and themes of Scripture. Connect Groups meet upstairs on the children and preteen hallway with grade-leveled small group classes.

Elevate

Children and preteens meet Wednesdays in the Children’s Worship room for Elevate from 6:15 – 7:00 p.m., where we focus on a combination of discipleship and missions. We have monthly mission challenges and periodically bring in guest speakers. 1st – 6th graders meet together at the beginning of Elevate for an introduction through announcements, prayer, games, and more. We then break into small groups and dive into our ELEVATE curriculum.

SC Jam

Children and preteens experience spiritual development through music in age-level children’s choirs that meet Wednesdays from 5:45 – 6:15 p.m. in the Music Suite.

Breakthrough

Breakthrough is specifically designed for 6th graders as they navigate the preteen stage of development. Breakthrough happens once a month on Sunday evenings and we cover various topics including, but not limited to, friendships, peer pressure, personal finances/tithing, quiet times, having a Christian worldview, our identity in Christ, defining truth, acceptance, spiritual gifts, and more.

Experiencing community within Breakthrough propels our preteens to be faithful to Christ and prepares them for being a part of the youth group the next year.
