Pause on Wednesday evenings for a meal with the Shades Crest family at 5:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall, and recharge with small groups for adults from 6-7:00 p.m., while your children and preschoolers head to music and missions activities, and students experience a time of worship and biblical learning.
Big Themes in Christian Parenting — Room 229
Parenting is one of life’s most special gifts, and yet it is a gift that comes with a wide array of challenges and questions. Any parent has likely been told by other parents that “there is no manual that comes with being a parent,” and yet there are common questions that recur for each parent in this season: How can I teach my child to love God and have a lasting faith in Him? What boundaries should we set with technology use in our home? How do I love and support my child as we navigate the big moments of transition that occur as a child ages? What should our moments of family worship and discipleship look like? As followers of Jesus, we want to be able to answer those questions well. This group will feature a rotating cast of Tucker Bryant, Whitney Battle, and several other Shades Crest parents to discuss what it looks like to parent our children well as followers of Jesus.
Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts — Room 242
If you are in or around the church long enough, you will hear that God has gifted each one of us with a Spirit-given talent to use for His glory and the good of others. But where does that idea come from? And even more importantly, how can we go about identifying what those gifts are in us and implementing them in our life and worship together as the people of God? Join Deebe Milford and Treva Medbery in a study that will help us understand better what the Bible says about spiritual gifts, how we can identify what our gifts are, and what it might look like for you to flourish in the use of God’s gifts in your life.
Experiencing Hope in Anxiety and Depression — Room 255
Anxiety, depression, and other mental health struggles are realities that are faced by many and can cause those experiencing them to struggle with experiencing hope and freedom in Jesus. Whether we are currently in a season of anxiety or depression, or walking with someone who is, we as the people of God carry a message of hope in Jesus, and that hope can be present regardless of our physical, spiritual, mental, or emotional circumstances. This small group, led by Ashley Woodard and Mark Johnson, will look at how God compassionately cares for us when we are dealing with anxiety, depression, and other mental health struggles. Come learn about the hope we have in Christ and how we can embrace that hope, even in the midst of struggle.
The Missional God: A Biblical Overview of God’s Heart for All People — Room 254
We, as followers of Jesus, believe that we are called to live “on mission” to see the message of God’s love and redemption be embraced throughout the world. For many of us, the call to be missional begins in the “Great Commission” of Matthew 28:18-20, but God’s desire for all people to know and experience His goodness is a critical theme that begins long before that, running throughout the entire narrative of the Bible. Join Monte Erwin, someone who has spent much of his life in missions and international ministry, as he explores critical passages in the Bible to show the missional heart of God that desires to see all the people of the Earth come to know and love Him
